Are You Fit for Scuba Diving?
Please review the following questions about conditions that may pose a risk to safe participation in scuba diving. If any of the conditions apply to you or other members of your group, please ask your physician if scuba diving is an activity you should avoid.
- Are you pregnant?
- Do you have a family history of heart attacks or strokes?
- Do you suffer from asthma or wheezing with breathing or exercise?
- Do you currently have a cold, sinusitis, or bronchitis?
- Do you have any form of lung disease?
- Have you ever had chest surgery?
- Do you have epilepsy, seizures, convulsions, or do you take medication to prevent or control any of these conditions?
- Do you have a history of claustrophobia or agoraphobia (fear of closed or open spaces)?
- Do you have a history of blackouts or fainting?
- Have you ever had a diving accident or decompression sickness?
- Do you have high blood pressure or do you take medicine to control it?
- Do you have a history of heart disease or heart attacks?
- Have you ever had heart surgery, angina, or blood vessel surgery?
- Do you have a history of bleeding or blood disorders?
- Do you have a history of any type of hernia or ulcers?
- Do you have a history of drug or alcohol abuse?
- Do you have a history of ear or sinus surgery?
- Do you have a history of ear disease, hearing loss, or problems with balance?
- Do you have problems equalizing (popping) ears during airplane or mountain travel?

NOTE: Before you leave home, please determine if your medical insurance covers scuba diving. If not, you may obtain medical coverage from DiveAssure or the Divers Alert Network (DAN). Please visit http://www.diveassure.com or http://www.diversalertnetwork.org. In the unlikely event of a problem, a recompression chamber is available in Providenciales.
