Question: What are the risks of scuba diving, such as sharks?
Answer: Scuba diving requires participants to act carefully and responsibly. That's why Ocean Vibes and other scuba diving operations take safety so seriously. Almost all scuba diving accidents can be attributed to the failure of divers to follow the rules and employ common sense. Think before you dive.
The dangers posed by sharks are greatly overblown. Anyone who has extensive experience with sharks will tell you that sharks generally avoid contact with humans. The Caribbean reef sharks around the Turks and Caicos fall into that category. Of the more than 375 species of sharks, only a few species are known to have attacked humans. Having said that, keep in mind that sharks are powerful creatures and should never be provoked or treated as pets.
